DESIGN AND DEVELOPMENT ENGINEER

We are looking for Design & Development Engineer (NX CAD - Injection Moulding)

Position Title: Design & Development Engineer
Department: R&D / Product Engineering / Design & Development
Experience: 5 to 10 years (for mid-level)
Qualification: Diploma / B.E. / B.Tech – Mechanical / Automobile / Plastic Engineering
Software Skills: Siemens NX (Mandatory), Teamcenter / PLM, Moldflow (Preferred), MS Office

Job Purpose:
To design, develop, and validate plastic components for automotive applications using NX CAD software, and support end-to-end development from concept to SOP including tooling and production support.

Key Responsibilities:
Design Activities (NX Software)
Create 3D models of injection moulded plastic parts using NX.
Develop 2D manufacturing drawings with GD&T and tolerances.
Design plastic parts as per DFM, DFA, and OEM standards.
Perform draft and thickness analysis to ensure mouldability.
Create assemblies and validate fitment and interface.
Development Activities
Coordinate with toolmakers for mould design and trials.
Provide CAD support for prototyping and validation.
Attend and support mould trials (T0, T1, T2) and analyze trial parts.
Assist in part testing and validation (vibration, impact, thermal).
Update CAD based on testing and tooling feedback.
Project Documentation & Control
Release drawings and CAD models in PLM (Teamcenter or equivalent).
Maintain BOM, DFM checklist, and design change history.
Support APQP & PPAP documentation with relevant CAD data.
Customer & Cross-functional Coordination
Interact with OEM customers for design approvals.
Collaborate with manufacturing, quality, and procurement teams.
Implement Engineering Change Requests (ECR/ECN) as required.

Key Skills Required:
Proficiency in Siemens NX (Part Modelling, Drafting, Assembly).
Knowledge of injection moulding process and plastic materials.
Understanding of DFM/DFA principles.
Familiarity with GD&T and tolerance stack-up.
Basic knowledge of mould tooling and flow simulation (added advantage).
Good communication and documentation skills.

KPIs (Key Performance Indicators):
Timely release of CAD models and drawings.
Accuracy of design and BOM.
Reduction in rework due to design errors.
Effective handling of design changes.
Project milestone achievement (prototype, trial, SOP).
