Job description
We are looking for an Assistant Design Manager with strong expertise in sheet metal tool design and leadership capabilities to oversee the complete lifecycle of tool design from concept to implementation. The ideal candidate should have prior experience managing a design team and working closely with tool rooms, production, and OEM customers. Roles & Responsibilities
Support management in RFQ analysis and feasibility study
Convert customer 2D / 3D data into manufacturable concepts
Prepare strip layouts for stage and progressive tools
Develop concept designs for sheet metal components and assemblies
Coordinate with tooling, production, and quality teams for feasibility inputs
Support tool concept, process planning, and operation sequencing
Prepare costing inputs for parts, tooling, and operations
Assist in cycle time estimation and material utilization calculations
Support technical discussions with customers during RFQ and development stage
Ensure design intent aligns with shop-floor capability
Preferred Candidate Profile
Diploma / B.E. / B.Tech in Mechanical Engineering 2-5 years experience in automotive sheet metal design / tooling support
Strong exposure to RFQ support, strip layout, and process planning
Hands-on experience with SolidWorks and AutoCAD
Practical understanding of press shop operations and tooling limitations
Experience in cost estimation for sheet metal parts and tools
Ability to work closely with senior management and shop-floor teams
