Job Summary
We are looking for an experienced Purchase Manager to manage the complete procurement function for a manufacturing company engaged in rubber hoses and brake pads for automobile, railway, and defence sectors. The candidate will be responsible for strategic sourcing, vendor development, cost optimization, inventory control, and ensuring uninterrupted supply of raw materials and components required for production.
Key Responsibilities
Procurement Planning & Material Management
Plan and manage the procurement of raw materials, consumables, and components required for production.
Ensure timely availability of materials to avoid production disruptions.
Coordinate with production, stores, and planning departments for material requirement planning.
Vendor Development & Management
Identify, evaluate, and develop reliable vendors and suppliers for raw materials and components.
Conduct vendor negotiations for pricing, quality, delivery timelines, and payment terms.
Maintain and evaluate approved vendor lists based on performance.
Cost Optimization
Implement strategies for cost reduction through effective negotiations and alternate sourcing.
Monitor market trends for raw materials such as rubber compounds, chemicals, metals, and friction materials.
Analyze purchase data to improve procurement efficiency and cost control.
Purchase Order Management
Prepare and issue purchase orders in accordance with company policies.
Track order status, delivery schedules, and ensure timely receipt of materials.
Coordinate with vendors to resolve delivery delays and supply issues.
Quality & Compliance
Work closely with quality control and production teams to ensure materials meet required technical specifications and quality standards.
Ensure compliance with industry standards and regulatory requirements, especially for railway and defence supply.
Inventory & Stock Control
Monitor inventory levels and reorder points to maintain optimal stock levels.
Work with stores team to minimize excess inventory and stock shortages.
Documentation & Reporting
Maintain proper purchase documentation, vendor records, and procurement reports.
Prepare monthly purchase reports, cost analysis, and vendor performance reports for management review.
Key Skills & Competencies
Strong knowledge of procurement processes in manufacturing industry
Experience in sourcing rubber compounds, chemicals, metals, and industrial components
Strong vendor negotiation and cost management skills
Knowledge of supply chain management and inventory control
Familiarity with ERP systems and purchase management software
Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities
Educational Qualification
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Commerce, or Supply Chain Management
MBA / PGDM in Supply Chain or Operations preferred.
Preferred Experience
Experience in automobile components manufacturing
Familiarity with procurement for rubber hoses, brake pads, and industrial components
Experience dealing with suppliers for railway and defence sector materials will be an added advantage.
