Job Purpose
We are looking for a B.Tech Electrical Engineer to handle costing, design,
production support, and drawing preparation for LT (Low Tension) and HT (High Tension) panels/switchboards. The role involves preparing accurate cost
estimates, developing sound electrical designs, supporting the production/assembly team, and creating technically compliant drawings to ensure
panels are engineered and manufactured on time, within budget, and as per applicable standards.
Key Responsibilities
1. Costing
• Study customer specifications, SLDs, and BOQs to prepare detailed cost estimates for LT/HT panels and switchboards.
Prepare Bill of Materials (BOM) covering busbars, breakers (ACB/MCCB/VCB), contactors, relays, CTs/PTs, cables, and enclosure/sheet metal.
•Obtain and evaluate vendor quotations for bought-out components and incorporate them into overall panel costing.
•Compute material, labour, and overhead costs to arrive at final panel pricing for quotations and tenders.
•Prepare techno-commercial comparisons and support the sales/estimation team in finalizing customer offers.
•Track actual vs. estimated cost and report variances.
2. Design
•Study customer requirements, load lists, and technical specifications to design LT/HT panels and switchboards.
•Select appropriate components (breakers, contactors, relays, CTs/PTs, protection relays) based on load, fault level, and application.
•Carry out design calculations including busbar sizing, short-circuit rating, derating, and clearance/creepage distances.
•Design panel architecture and configuration (fixed/draw-out, single/double front, form of separation) as per requirements.
•Review and validate designs against IEC 61439/IS standards and project-specific specifications.
•Provide design inputs and technical clarifications during tendering and pre-order discussions.
3. Production Support
•Provide technical support to the production/assembly team during panel manufacturing, ensuring alignment with approved designs and drawings.
•Resolve day-to-day technical issues and design/drawing clarifications arising on the shop floor.
•Verify correct component selection, wiring practices, busbar fabrication, and assembly sequencing as per drawings and standards.
•Coordinate with QA/QC for in-process inspection, routine testing, and Factory Acceptance Test (FAT) of panels.
•Liaise with stores/procurement to ensure timely availability of components to avoid production delays.
•Support closure of non-conformances, rework, and preparation of final documentation (test reports, as-built drawings, O&M manuals) prior to dispatch.
4. Drawing
•Prepare and review GA (General Arrangement) drawings, Single Line Diagrams (SLDs), and control/wiring schematics for LT/HT panels.
•Prepare panel layout, busbar sizing, and cable routing/schedule drawings in line with the finalized design.
•Develop and revise drawings using AutoCAD/EPLAN
